John Denver was much more than just Annie’s Song or Leaving on a Jet Plane. That’s what Jimmy Duchateau shows in his new theatre production Thank God I’m A Country Boy!

After years of success with Country Roads, he returns with a brand-new program. Together with his band, he takes the audience on a journey through the life of one of the most beloved country artists of all time. Stories and music blend into a warm tribute to a true icon.

Jimmy performs classics like Calypso, Perhaps Love, and of course Thank God I’m a Country Boy, but also brings lesser-known songs to the stage. “You can’t imitate real emotion – it has to come from within,” he says. He stays close to the original sheet music by John Denver’s longtime arranger, Lee Holdridge.

More than 25 years after Denver’s passing, his music remains deeply meaningful. Though from a different generation, Jimmy feels a strong connection to his words and melodies. Thank God I’m A Country Boy! is a powerful tribute, full of depth and warmth, where Denver’s legacy shines once again.
