That John Denver is more than Annie’s Song and Leaving on a Jetplane is proven by singer Jimmy Duchateau and his band in Thank God I’m A Country Boy! Travel through the life of one of the world’s most important country singers in this grand show with an intimate atmosphere and dream away with the nostalgic music that made Denver so immortal.

Jimmy: ‘I don’t want to imitate John Denver, although my voice does sound like his.’ So no blond wig and cowboy hat. But with a guitar and – okay – a western shirt to stay in the mood. And the legendary music of course, because that’s what this show is all about. From small intimate songs to large arrangements in which the band knows how to bring the show to an unprecedented high point.

‘You can’t imitate the emotion of music, that can only come from yourself.’ Yet Jimmy remains faithful to the handwritten scores that he received from Denver’s own arranger Lee Holdridge. Although the young musician is not of Denver’s generation, Jimmy understands his music like no other. Singing and with the necessary anecdotes, he introduces the audience to the country legend. A grand show with an intimate atmosphere in which the life lessons in Denver’s lyrics gain even more meaning and the brilliant music gets the attention it deserves.
